AzLab#67 | Tiles in Modern Brazilian Architecture
May 19th, 2021 | 18h00 [Lisbon Time Zone - UTC+1] | via Zoom [session to be held in Portuguese]

Tiles in Modern Brazilian Architecture: Beyond Portinari

In May we move forward in time and across an ocean! The destination is Salvador da Bahia, where Eliana Mello will tell us about the architectural avant-garde "made in Brazil" from the perspective of tile decorations and the work of the German ceramist Udo Knoff.

In this AzLab, Eliana Mello aims to "(...) deconstruct a few myths and half-truths, so as to enable a wider and more consistent understanding of the artistic, technical, social and economic singularities behind the strong presence of authored ceramic coverings in modern Brazilian architecture".

Registration via Google forms or by e-mail (redeazulejo@letras.ulisboa.pt).
Once the session is scheduled, each participant will receive the link and a password.

Invited speaker:
Eliana Mello [Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA) | Az - Rede de Investigação em Azulejo (ARTIS-IHA/FLUL)]

NOTE:   this session will be recorded and partially made available on the YouTube channel of the Azulejo Research Network
