The competitions of the Portuguese History Academy are now open, of which we highlight:
 
- Prize "Pina Manique. From Enlightenment to the Liberal Revolution"
 
The competition is open to all interested parties and the deadline for submitting applications is October 15th, 2021

Directed to master's and doctoral dissertations, works on themes in different areas of knowledge are admitted, in the mentioned chronological period, aiming at a greater and better knowledge of the History of Portugal and its relationship with a changing Europe at the same time. The value of the Prize is ?1,000.00 for the master's thesis and ?2,500.00 for the doctoral thesis. In the present year of 2021 and in its 5th Edition, the candidate dissertations admitted are those defended and approved in the year 2020.

II INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON HYDRAULICS IN MONUMENTAL BUILDINGS

The hydraulic system is an architectural subsystem that can only be understood in view of the dual constitution of its structure: the one located at ground level, referring to drinking water (lower hydraulic subsystem) and the one related to rainwater (upper hydraulic subsystem) . Both imply aspects of major importance for the functioning of any building: capture, distribution and evacuation of water.

Presentation / Call for papers
Under the pretext of the 170 years over the Great Exhibition of London in 1851, in which the decorative arts were the undisputed protagonists, and which was at the genesis of the largest museum of decorative arts in the world, the Victoria & Albert Museum, it was decided to dedicate to this domain of artistic production the issue number 9 of ARTIS.

Those interested should submit, until May 31st, 2021, an abstract with a maximum of 750 words, accompanied by a brief biographical note (maximum 500 words). Featuring in the journal's Varia section, small articles will also be accepted before the same deadline (see Norms for submitting articles)
