Luís Mousinho de Albuquerque and the Restoration of the Batalha Monastery in the 19th Century documents the pioneering restoration efforts of the Batalha Monastery between 1840 and 1843. This book marks the 170th anniversary of the first publication of Mousinho de Albuquerque's Memória Inédita acerca do edifício monumental da Batalha (Unpublished Memoir about the Monumental Building of Batalha), in 1854. Originally published only in Portuguese, this bilingual edition enables its internationalisation and expands the reach of this seminal text.
