Decorative Arts
Presentation / Call for papers
Under the pretext of the 170 years over the Great Exhibition of London in 1851, in which the decorative arts were the undisputed protagonists, and which was at the genesis of the largest museum of decorative arts in the world, the Victoria & Albert Museum, it was decided to dedicate to this domain of artistic production the issue number 9 of ARTIS.
Those interested should submit,
until May 31st, 2021, an
abstract with a
maximum of 750 words, accompanied by a
brief biographical note (maximum 500 words). Featuring in the journal's
Varia section, small articles will also be accepted before the same deadline (see
Norms for submitting articles)
Thus, it intends to develop a plural approach to decorative arts from all time and place, that is, without chronological or geographic limits, and still in its multiple aspects: decorative arts and museums (not just specifically dedicated to decorative arts museums but considering also the importance of the collections of decorative arts inside great generalist museums, or the relevance of decorative arts in a specific category of museums: the house-museums); decorative arts and industry and design (considering the fact that the aforementioned Great Exhibition itself constituted a stimulus to industrial production, as was it was one of the goals of its promoters); the decorative arts and the art market and, last but not least, the study of decorative arts, as part of the research in art history.
The notification of acceptance or not of the submitted proposals will be made until June 18, 2021.
The texts resulting from the accepted proposals must be submitted by 15 September 2021.
