Art historian, with a PhD in History of Modern Art from the Open University (2001), where she is assistant professor with aggregation and the vice-coordinator of the MA programme in Heritage Studies, at the Department of Social Sciences and Management. She teaches several courses on the history of Portuguese art and artistic heritage.

She is also an integrated researcher at the Centre for Art History and Artistic Research (CHAIA) of the University of Évora and a member of IN2PAST, the Associated Laboratory for Research and Innovation in Heritage, Arts, Sustainability and Territory, working on the research line Museums, Monuments and Collections. 

Her research focuses mainly on 17^th- and 18^th-century applied decorative arts and the architecture of the Portuguese Baroque period, with a special emphasis on azulejos and digital humanities. She has authored several studies and books on these topics and attended conferences and congresses in Portugal and abroad.

She has participated as an integrated researcher in different projects, including DIGITHUM (Digital Humanities) - LE@D - Laboratory for Remote Learning and E-Learning of the Open University: "DIGITALIZANDO LA FIESTA BARROCA. Reconstrucciones virtuales del ornato efímero en España y Portugal", as well as the more recent project, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, Santos Corpos | Um Atlas dos Corpi Santi em Portugal (Holy Bodies | An Atlas of the Corpi Santi in Portugal).
