Clara Moura Soares


Clara Moura Soares is an Assistant Professor and integrated researcher at ARTIS, the Art History Institute of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (FLUL). She holds a license degree in Art History from FLUL (1996) and a master's degree from the same university, with a dissertation on the restoration works and the ancient stone quarries of the Batalha Monastery (1999). She obtained her PhD in 2006 with a thesis on the 19th century restoration of the Jerónimos Monastery. Since then, she has participated in various research projects (QREN, FT, FEDER), coordinated the project Eneias, devoted to the study of the painting collection of the Portuguese National Library (PTDC/HIS-HEC/113226/2009), conducted research and supervised MA and PhD theses in different areas of heritage studies, such as heritage management, inventory, history and theory of restoration and artistic collectionism, and published books and papers on these topics. She teaches different subjects related to heritage studies and the history of 19th century art, coordinates the research group Patrimonium - Heritage Science and Art Marketsand heads the University of Lisbon's Graduate Programme in Art History.
